Bílý koníček

Key details

Where? City Centre | Old Town
Type of establishment Restaurant | Jazz Club
Cuisine Czech | Italian | Vegetarian

You won’t find Prague’s jazz clubs on the outskirts, and this one, Bílý koníček (The White Horse), is one of the most central. The club and restaurant in one is right on Old Town Square. Bílý koníček is housed in the beautiful cellar of a 12th century town house, which is nicknamed U Zlatého jednorožce (The Golden Unicorn) after its house sign.

Concerts start here every night at 20.00, and feature ensembles with a small number of players – trios or soloists from various countries. Here you can hear piano versions of standard arrangements as well as touching saxophone solos. The cooking at Bílý koníček is Czech and traditional (e.g. roasted pork knuckle), with some Italian touches (such as prosciutto and other goodies). Chef Martin Opršal strives to lure even the most demanding diners with his sophisticated dishes.
