Few people know that Prague jazz clubs actually represent a big slice of city life. Although their programmes aren’t advertised on every street corner, such clubs have been in existence for decades. Music plays seven days a week there – and with great enthusiasm. What’s more, these jazz dens are often housed in amazing spaces. For example, Jazz Republic can be found in a historic cellar in the very centre of Old Prague, in Jilská Street. (NB: don’t look for it at Můstek subway station – Jazz Republic has moved to a new address). The vaulted ceilings and the cosy interior make Jazz Republic a great venue that visitors remember fondly.
