The space occupied by Olympia has always served as a restaurant, ever since the building was constructed in the early 20th century. Apparently, it used to house an illicit casino for gamblers. At the foot of Petřín Hill, the restaurant was restored to its present form in 2003; the result successfully combines wooden panelling, retro furniture, and copper brewing kettles.

Most of the menu is meat-based, with everything from goulash shin of beef and knuckle of suckling pig, to beef cheeks in wine and neck of wild boar.

Service is swift, and you’ll see waitstaff most often clutching half-litre mugs of well-served Pilsen beer. Also worth a mention are the items from the restaurant’s smokehouse, including beer-flavoured sausage, white sausage, and game sausage. You can also match your beer with a selection of strongly-flavoured snacks, such as Olomouc cheese in breadcrumbs, or sausages in beer.
